Dimethyldipropylenetriamine

CAS: 10563-29-8

Overview

Dimethyldipropylenetriamine (CAS 10563-29-8 ) is a polyamine compound used industrially as a corrosion inhibitor, chelating agent, and pH buffer across water treatment and surface protection applications.

Its triamine structure allows it to coordinate with metal ions and interact with surfaces, making it functional across multiple chemistries simultaneously in various industrial environments.

In water treatment systems, it controls corrosion in recirculating and industrial cooling circuits by forming protective complexes with metal surfaces and sequestering dissolved metal ions.

This sequestration prevents ions that would otherwise accelerate degradation. Coatings formulators incorporate it as a curing agent or adhesion promoter in epoxy-based systems for film integrity.

In these systems, its amine groups react with resin components to build durability. In adhesives and sealants, it contributes to crosslink density and substrate bonding performance.

This is particularly effective on metal and concrete surfaces. Metalworking fluid formulators use it for pH stabilization and to inhibit ferrous corrosion in cutting and grinding operations.

The product is supplied as a liquid at standard commercial concentrations. It is typically available in technical grade , suited to industrial end uses in water treatment and coatings.

Packaging options generally include drums and IBC totes for bulk procurement. This ensures efficient handling and storage for large-scale manufacturing and chemical processing facilities.
