Squalane

Squalane (CAS 111-01-3 ), also marketed under trade names Cosbiol and Robane, is a fully saturated hydrocarbon oil derived from squalene through hydrogenation. It functions as a stable emollient, carrier, and solvent across cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food applications.

In personal care, it is used as an emollient base in facial oils, moisturizers, and hair serums. Its non-greasy skin feel and oxidative stability justify premium positioning over standard plant oils in high-end formulations.

Pharmaceutical formulators use it as a carrier oil in topical drug delivery systems and as an adjuvant component in injectable emulsion formulations. It provides excellent skin compatibility and stability for active ingredients.

Food-grade material serves as a surface treatment agent and carrier for fat-soluble flavor compounds in encapsulation systems. It is valued for its inert nature and ability to protect sensitive compounds from oxidation.
