Overview
Diethylenetriamine pentamethylene phosphonic acid , commonly known as DTPMP, is a high-performance phosphonate chelating agent used across water treatment, energy, and industrial processing sectors.
It binds metal ions and inhibits scale formation, keeping process systems clean and operational under demanding conditions. This chemical is identified by CAS 15827-60-8 .
In water treatment, DTPMP is dosed into cooling towers, boilers, and reverse osmosis systems to prevent calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, and barium sulfate scale deposits.
Oil and gas operators use it in injection water and produced water handling to control mineral scaling in pipelines and downhole equipment. It is essential for maintaining flow efficiency.
Textile and paper mills apply it to sequester hardness ions in process water, protecting equipment and improving the consistency of bleaching and dyeing operations.
Its phosphonate structure also supports corrosion inhibition in closed-loop systems, where metal ion stabilization reduces oxidative degradation of system components.
DTPMP is supplied as an aqueous solution, typically at concentrations around 50% active content, though higher-concentration grades are available for specific industrial applications.
The Technical grade is the standard market offering, formulated for industrial dosing systems. Bulk liquid supply in IBC containers is the conventional format for procurement.
