Overview
Tellurium dioxide (CAS 7446-07-3 ), also abbreviated as TeO2, is an inorganic oxide of tellurium used primarily in electronics and specialty chemical manufacturing.
It functions as a catalyst and optical material, enabling precise control in acousto-optical and electrochemical processes. In acousto-optic devices, TeO2 crystals are used to manufacture deflectors.
These crystals are also used for modulators and tunable filters for laser systems and telecommunications equipment. The compound serves as a precursor in the production of tellurite glass.
This glass is incorporated into fiber optic amplifiers and infrared-transmitting optical components. In catalysis, it supports selective oxidation reactions in specialty chemical synthesis.
This includes the production of fine chemicals and pharmaceutical intermediates. Thin-film deposition processes in semiconductor fabrication also consume TeO2 as a sputtering target material.
It is used for phase-change memory applications. Tellurium dioxide is supplied as a white crystalline powder in technical and high-purity grades for electronic and optical applications.
Purity levels commonly range from 99% to 99.999% (5N). High-purity sputtering targets are available as pressed and sintered forms to meet semiconductor-grade specifications.
Packaging is typically offered in small laboratory quantities through to kilogram-scale lots depending on purity grade. This ensures flexibility for both research and industrial production.
