Indanthrone Blue

Indanthrone Blue (CAS 81-77-6 ), also known as C.I. Pigment Blue 60 or Indanthrene, is a high-performance vat-derived organic pigment prized for its deep, reddish-blue hue and outstanding lightfastness.

It is used across demanding colorant applications where long-term color stability under UV exposure and heat is a primary selection criterion. In industrial and architectural coatings, it delivers durable blue shades.

These shades resist fading in exterior environments, making it a preferred choice for high-specification paint systems. Plastics processors incorporate it into polyolefins, engineering resins, and masterbatches.

It is ideal where processing temperatures and outdoor weathering would degrade lesser pigments. Textile dyeing operations use it as a vat pigment to achieve wash-fast, lightfast blue shades on cotton and cellulosic fibers.

Printing ink formulators select it for packaging applications requiring consistent, migration-resistant color across long press runs. Indanthrone Blue is supplied as a dry powder, typically in press cake or finished pigment form.
