Overview
Eugenol (CAS 97-53-0 ), also known as p-Allylguaiacol, is a naturally derived phenolic compound extracted primarily from clove oil and used across flavoring, fragrance, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
FEMA 2467 recognized, it functions as a flavoring agent, fragrance ingredient, and antioxidant stabilizer in a broad range of finished products for various industrial sectors.
In food and beverage production, eugenol delivers characteristic clove and spice notes and is used to flavor confectionery, baked goods, and meat products under regulatory approval.
Personal care and cosmetic formulators incorporate it into perfumes, dental care products, and topical preparations for its fragrance contribution and antioxidant stabilizing effect in formulations.
Pharmaceutical manufacturers use eugenol as an active and excipient ingredient in dental cements, analgesic formulations, and antiseptic preparations for professional medical and dental use.
In printing and packaging, it functions as a UV stabilizer and antioxidant additive to protect ink systems and coatings from oxidative degradation during the manufacturing process.
Eugenol is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid in standard commercial packaging. Food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade specifications are available, with material conforming to FCC standards.
Material also conforms to BP and Ph. Eur. standards depending on the application. Technical-grade material is also offered for industrial uses such as ink and coating stabilization.
