Disodium monofluorophosphate

CAS: 10163-15-2

Overview

Disodium monofluorophosphate ( CAS 10163-15-2 ), commonly abbreviated as MFP, is the fluoride source of choice in oral care manufacturing. Sodium phosphorofluoridate releases fluoride ions in a controlled, stable form.

This chemical integrates cleanly into dentifrice systems without the compatibility issues associated with sodium fluoride. MFP is the active ingredient in fluoride toothpastes, where it delivers enamel remineralization activity.

It is used at regulated concentration levels, typically 0.76% in finished formulations. It is also incorporated into anti-caries mouth rinses and dental gels targeting both consumer and clinical markets.

Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it in prescription-grade fluoride preparations where precise dosing and regulatory compliance are critical. In some markets, it appears in fluoride supplement tablets.

These tablets are formulated for populations with low dietary fluoride intake. Disodium monofluorophosphate is supplied as a white crystalline powder that is easy to handle during the manufacturing process.

It is available in USP and Ph. Eur. grades to meet pharmaceutical and oral care regulatory requirements. Technical grade options are also available for specific industrial applications.

Packaging ranges from kilogram-scale bags to bulk quantities suited to large-volume toothpaste and oral care manufacturers. This ensures flexibility for both pilot-scale development and full production runs.
