2-(morpholinothio)benzothiazole

CAS: 102-77-2

Overview

2-(Morpholinothio)benzothiazole ( CAS 102-77-2 ), commercially known as MBS, Santocure MOR, or Sulfenax MOR, is a delayed-action rubber vulcanization accelerator. It controls the rate and onset of cure in sulfur-based vulcanization systems.

This chemical gives processors a reliable processing safety window before crosslinking begins. In tire manufacturing, MBS is used in tread and sidewall compounds where scorch resistance and consistent cure profiles are critical.

It performs effectively in technical rubber goods such as seals, gaskets, and industrial hoses. In these applications, controlled crosslink density determines long-term mechanical performance and dimensional stability.

Latex compounding operations use MBS to manage cure timing in dipped goods and foam products without premature gelation. It is also applied in conveyor belt and automotive rubber component production.

It is often used in combination with secondary accelerators such as DPG or TMTD to fine-tune cure rate and state of cure. MBS is supplied as an off-white to pale yellow powder or in pre-dispersed granules.

These forms are suited to continuous mixing operations. Standard commercial grades meet rubber chemical purity specifications, with active content typically confirmed by melting point and HPLC assay.

Technical grade is the predominant market form for industrial use. Buyers should confirm particle size distribution where dust control or dispersion consistency is a specific process requirement.
