Flazasulfuron

CAS: 104040-78-0

Overview

Flazasulfuron (CAS 104040-78-0 ), also known by the development codes SL-160 and OK-1166 and the trade name Shibagen, is a sulfonylurea herbicide used in selective weed control across a range of crops and non-crop settings.

It inhibits acetolactate synthase (ALS), delivering broad-spectrum control of grasses and broadleaf weeds at low application rates. In viticulture and orchards, it is applied for season-long weed suppression between rows.

This reduces competition without crop damage. Turf management programs use it to control difficult grass species, including annual bluegrass, in amenity and sports turf. It is also registered for use in sugarcane and citrus plantations.

In these agricultural settings, residual soil activity extends the weed-free window between applications. Non-crop and industrial vegetation management programs rely on it for right-of-way and perimeter control.

The compound is supplied as a technical-grade active ingredient and in formulated end products, most commonly as a wettable granule (WG) or water-dispersible granule. Technical material is available for formulation.

Agrochemical manufacturers requiring a high-purity input for herbicide product development can utilize this material. Standard purity for technical grade is typically 95% or above to ensure consistent performance.
