Overview
1,4-Dichlorobenzene (CAS 106-46-7 ), commonly sourced as PDCB or para-dichlorobenzene, is an aromatic chlorinated compound used industrially as a biocide, chemical intermediate, and moth-repellent active.
Its controlled sublimation profile makes it effective in slow-release preservation and fumigant applications without liquid handling. In textile and leather processing, PDCB acts as a moth-proofing agent.
It protects stored wool, fur, and natural fiber goods during warehousing and transit. It functions as a key intermediate in the synthesis of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a high-performance engineering polymer.
