Dibutyltin diacetate

CAS: 1067-33-0

Overview

Dibutyltin diacetate (CAS 1067-33-0 ), commonly abbreviated as DBTDA, is an organotin compound used as a catalyst for curing and cross-linking reactions across polymer and sealant manufacturing.

It accelerates condensation and addition reactions that would otherwise require elevated temperatures or extended processing times. In silicone sealant and elastomer production, DBTDA catalyzes room-temperature vulcanization.

This enables one- and two-component systems used in construction, automotive, and electronics assembly. Polyurethane formulators use it to control gel time and cross-link density in coatings and adhesives.

Precise cure profiles are critical to end-product performance in these sectors. It also functions as a stabilizer catalyst in PVC compounding, where it supports thermal stability during processing.

Adhesive manufacturers targeting structural bonding applications select DBTDA when consistent pot life and cure speed are required across varying ambient conditions.

Dibutyltin diacetate is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid. It is available in technical grade, which is the standard specification for industrial catalyst applications in coatings and sealants.

Packaging typically ranges from drums to intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) to suit both laboratory-scale evaluation and full production volumes for polymer processing.
