Overview
Ethyltriacetoxysilane (CAS 17689-77-9 ), also known commercially as Dynasylan ETAC, is an acetoxy-functional silane used as a crosslinker and surface modifier in moisture-curing polymer systems.
It releases acetic acid upon hydrolysis, enabling rapid cure at ambient conditions without requiring a catalyst in many formulations. In silicone sealants and elastomers, it acts as a crosslinking agent.
This chemical controls cure speed and final mechanical properties, making it a standard component in one-part RTV systems for construction and automotive assembly. Adhesive formulators use it to improve substrate adhesion.
It is particularly effective for glass, metals, and plastics where bond durability under moisture exposure is critical. In coatings, it functions as a surface coupling agent that promotes adhesion between substrates.
This promotes bonding between inorganic substrates and organic binder systems. Building and construction applications include structural glazing compounds and facade sealants where weathering resistance is required.
It is also utilized where long-term flexibility is essential for the final product. Ethyltriacetoxysilane is supplied as a clear liquid and is available in technical grade for industrial use.
This is the standard specification for industrial sealant and coating applications. Packaging typically ranges from drums to IBC containers, suited to both formulators and larger-volume industrial users.
