Overview
Vinyl neodecanoate (CAS 51000-52-3 ) is a branched-chain vinyl ester monomer used to build flexibility, hydrophobicity, and adhesion into polymer systems. It functions as a reactive building block in emulsion and solution polymerization.
This monomer modifies the performance profile of the resulting resin without requiring post-processing steps. In architectural and industrial coatings, it is copolymerized with vinyl acetate or acrylic monomers to improve water resistance.
The chemical is highly effective at reducing film brittleness in various coating applications. Pressure-sensitive adhesives and laminating adhesives incorporate it to tune tack and peel strength across a range of substrates.
Sealant and elastomer formulations benefit from its contribution to low-temperature flexibility and long-term weatherability. In printing and packaging, it supports the development of emulsion polymers used in barrier coatings.
