Overview
Permethrin (CAS 52645-53-1 ) is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide and acaricide used across agriculture, public health, and material protection sectors. Sold under trade names including Pounce in agricultural markets, it controls a broad spectrum of insects and mites on contact.
Elimite and Nix are recognized pharmaceutical-grade formulations used in topical antiparasitic treatments. In agriculture, it is applied to field crops and ornamentals to control lepidopteran pests, aphids, and beetles.
It is available as emulsifiable concentrates and wettable powders suited to commercial spray programs. Textile and apparel manufacturers use it to impregnate fabrics, producing treated military uniforms and outdoor gear.
These products provide durable insect-repellent and insecticidal properties for mosquito nets. In livestock and animal husbandry, it is formulated into pour-on solutions, ear tags, and dips for the control of ticks, lice, and flies.
Public health programs deploy it in residual indoor sprays and treated bed nets for vector control. These applications are essential for malaria and other insect-borne disease programs globally.
The product is supplied as a liquid concentrate, typically at 25%, 36.8%, or 50% active ingredient. It is also available in emulsifiable concentrate and wettable powder formulations for various industrial uses.
Technical-grade material and formulated end-products are both available for commercial procurement. Pharmaceutical-grade specifications exist for topical cream and lotion applications to ensure safety and efficacy.
