Behenamidopropyl dimethylamine

CAS: 60270-33-9

Overview

Behenamidopropyl dimethylamine (CAS 60270-33-9 ), also known commercially as Amidet, is a long-chain fatty amide amine derived from behenic acid used as a conditioning and functional intermediate.

It acts as a precursor to quaternary ammonium compounds and betaines, and delivers surface-active, emulsifying, and rheology-modifying performance in its own right for personal care formulations.

In hair care, it is used to produce conditioning agents that deposit on hair fiber to reduce static and improve combability. Shampoos and conditioner formulations incorporate it directly for viscosity.

It has the ability to adjust viscosity and stabilize emulsions at low use levels. Skin care and leave-on products use it to modify surface wetting and improve the spreadability of emollient systems.

It also functions as a pH buffer in rinse-off formulations, helping maintain system stability across processing and storage conditions. This ensures the longevity and performance of the final product.

Behenamidopropyl dimethylamine is supplied as a solid waxy flake or paste, depending on grade and processing. Technical and cosmetic grades are the standard commercial offerings for industrial use.

Cosmetic-grade material meets purity requirements suited for personal care end products. Packaging typically ranges from fiber drums to bulk quantities for industrial formulators and large scale production.
