Overview
2-Hydroxypropyl methacrylate (CAS 923-26-2 ), also known as HPMA or propylene glycol monomethacrylate, is a reactive hydroxyl-functional monomer used to introduce pendant hydroxyl groups into acrylic polymer chains.
It enables controlled crosslinking and adhesion performance across a broad range of polymer systems. In coatings formulations, HPMA reacts with isocyanate or melamine crosslinkers to produce two-component polyurethane.
These acrylic topcoats offer improved hardness and chemical resistance. Adhesive and sealant manufacturers incorporate it to build hydroxyl-functional acrylic backbones that bond well to metal, glass, and plastic substrates.
