Overview

Dipentaerythritol (CAS 126-58-9 ), also known commercially as Dipentek and abbreviated as DiPE, is a high-functionality polyol produced as a co-product in pentaerythritol manufacturing.

Its six hydroxyl groups make it a reactive building block for high-performance resins, esters, and crosslinked polymer systems across coatings, adhesives, and polymer industries.

In alkyd and radiation-curable coatings, DiPE reacts with fatty acids and isocyanates to produce resins with superior hardness, durability, and crosslink density compared to standard systems.

Lubricant ester synthesis is another primary outlet, where DiPE-based synthetic esters deliver high thermal stability and low volatility for demanding aerospace and industrial applications.

In UV-curable adhesives and sealants, it functions as a core acrylate ester intermediate, enabling tight network formation and fast cure response during the manufacturing process.

Personal care formulators use DiPE-derived esters as emollient carriers and film-forming agents in long-wear cosmetic products to improve texture and performance for the end user.

Dipentaerythritol is supplied as a white crystalline powder or granules. Technical grade is the standard commercial form, with purity typically specified at 90% minimum for most uses.

Some suppliers offer high-purity grades targeting ester synthesis applications where tighter hydroxyl value specifications are required to meet specific industrial performance criteria.
