Overview
Ammonium molybdate (CAS 13106-76-8 ), also known as diammonium molybdate, is an inorganic molybdenum salt used across agriculture, water treatment, and industrial chemistry as a source of soluble molybdenum.
It functions primarily as a micronutrient supplier, corrosion inhibitor, and analytical reagent in commercial formulations and industrial processes. In agriculture, it is incorporated into liquid fertilizers and foliar sprays.
This product corrects molybdenum deficiency in crops, particularly for legumes and brassicas where nitrogen fixation depends on adequate molybdenum availability. Water treatment operations use it as a corrosion inhibitor.
In cooling water systems, it forms a protective film on metal surfaces to reduce pipe degradation. In analytical and laboratory chemistry, it serves as the active reagent in phosphate and silicate detection methods.
This makes it a procurement target for reagent-grade supply chains. Pharmaceutical and industrial formulators also source it as a precursor for molybdenum-based catalysts used in hydroprocessing and chemical synthesis.
Ammonium molybdate is available as a crystalline powder or granules, with purity levels ranging from technical grade to reagent grade. Established specifications include ACS reagent grade for laboratory applications.
Technical grade is also available for industrial and agricultural use. Bulk supply is standard for fertilizer and industrial buyers, with smaller packaging available for analytical and pharmaceutical procurement.
