Overview
Disodium disilicate (CAS 13870-28-5 ), also known as sodium disilicate, is an inorganic silicate salt used across industrial processing and formulation as a pH buffer, corrosion inhibitor, and cleaning agent.
Its controlled alkalinity and silicate content make it a functional ingredient in water treatment, surface treatment, and construction applications. In water treatment, it inhibits pipe corrosion by forming a protective silicate film.
The material simultaneously buffers pH in distribution systems to ensure stability. Textile and leather processors use it as a pretreatment and scouring aid, where its alkaline buffering supports fiber preparation and dye fixation.
In detergent and industrial cleaning formulations, it provides degreasing action and helps maintain the alkaline conditions needed for soil removal. This makes it essential for heavy-duty cleaning applications.
Construction product manufacturers incorporate it into cement-based adhesives and coatings as a binder component and setting modifier. It enhances the structural integrity and performance of various building materials.
Disodium disilicate is supplied as a white powder or granules depending on the intended application and handling requirements. Technical grade is the standard offering for industrial water treatment and construction uses.
Food-contact and personal care applications may require material meeting FCC or equivalent purity specifications. We ensure our supply chain meets the rigorous demands of global industrial and specialty chemical standards.
