Trioctyl trimellitate

Trioctyl trimellitate (CAS 3319-31-1 ), commonly identified in the market as TOTM or tris(2-ethylhexyl) trimellitate, is a high-performance plasticizer used across demanding polymer and industrial applications.

It is favored where low volatility and high-temperature stability are required to maintain flexibility over the product's service life. In PVC compounding, TOTM is the preferred plasticizer for wire and cable insulation.

These materials must meet elevated temperature ratings, including 90°C and 105°C UL classifications. Medical-grade PVC tubing and blood bags rely on TOTM as a low-migration alternative to phthalate plasticizers.

This supports compliance with increasingly strict regulatory requirements. Printing inks and packaging coatings use TOTM to maintain film flexibility without plasticizer bleed-out during heat-intensive processing or storage.

In personal care formulations, it functions as an emollient and film-forming agent in long-wear color cosmetics and nail products. TOTM is supplied as a clear, low-viscosity liquid in drum and IBC quantities.

Bulk tanker options are available for large-volume buyers. Standard commercial grades include technical and plasticizer-grade specifications; medical and food-contact grades are available to meet regulatory requirements.

These grades are designed to meet specific standards such as USP or EP where applicable. Purity typically ranges from 99% and above for high-specification applications across various industries.
