Overview
Dioctyl terephthalate ( CAS 6422-86-2 ), commercially known as DOTP and also marketed as Di-(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate or DEHT, is a non-phthalate plasticizer used across PVC compounding and polymer processing.
It delivers flexibility and durability to finished materials while meeting increasingly strict regulatory requirements for phthalate-free formulations. In PVC compounding, DOTP is the primary alternative to DEHP.
It is used in flexible films, cables, flooring, and medical-grade tubing where phthalate restrictions apply. Adhesive and sealant formulators incorporate it to improve elongation and low-temperature performance.
These applications are common in construction and automotive assembly. Coatings manufacturers use it as a plasticizing modifier to reduce brittleness in industrial and protective coatings without compromising film integrity.
Personal care formulators apply it as a solvent and plasticizer in nail lacquers and film-forming cosmetic products. DOTP is supplied as a clear, low-viscosity liquid in bulk, IBC, and drum packaging.
It is available in technical and industrial grades, with select suppliers offering material conforming to REACH compliance documentation and RoHS requirements. Specifications typically align with established plasticizer purity standards.
Purity levels are commonly at 99% or higher. This ensures consistent performance across various manufacturing sectors requiring high-quality chemical inputs for their specialized production processes.
