Sodium persulfate

CAS: 7775-27-1

Overview

Sodium persulfate (CAS 7775-27-1 ), also sold as sodium peroxydisulfate, is a strong inorganic oxidizing salt used across industrial manufacturing and treatment processes.

It functions primarily as a polymerization initiator, bleaching agent, and oxidative treatment chemical in demanding production environments. In plastics and polymer manufacturing, it initiates reactions.

It is used for emulsion and suspension polymerization reactions for acrylic, vinyl, and styrene-based resins. Printed circuit board fabrication relies on it as a micro-etchant to clean surfaces.

It is used to roughen copper surfaces before lamination or plating. Textile and paper producers use it to bleach fibers and pulp without the residue concerns associated with chlorine-based alternatives.

In groundwater and soil remediation, it oxidizes organic contaminants in situ. This makes it a practical choice for environmental treatment projects where controlled reactivity is required.

The product is supplied as a white crystalline powder or granule, with granular forms preferred where dust control is a handling priority. Standard commercial grades include technical grade.

High-purity grades meeting electronics and PCB industry specifications are also available. Packaging typically ranges from 25 kg bags to bulk quantities depending on application volume.
