Overview
Hexamethyldisiloxane (CAS 107-46-0 ), commonly referenced as HMDSO, is a low-viscosity silicone fluid used as a solvent, carrier, and surface-modifying agent across specialty chemical manufacturing.
It conditions surfaces, aids dispersion of silicone-based materials, and supports film formation in coating and personal care applications. In silicone coatings and release liners, it acts as a reactive diluent.
The material functions as a processing solvent, improving flow and substrate wetting during application. Personal care formulators use it as a lightweight carrier fluid in skin-feel emollients and dry-touch formulations.
It is ideal for hair conditioning products where fast evaporation and a non-greasy finish are required. In adhesives and sealants manufacturing, it functions as a solvent for silicone polymers and as a surface primer.
The chemical promotes adhesion on low-energy substrates. Plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition processes use HMDSO as a precursor to deposit hydrophobic or barrier silica coatings on plastics and films.
Hexamethyldisiloxane is supplied as a clear, low-viscosity liquid in drum and IBC quantities. Technical and high-purity grades are available, with purity levels typically ranging from 97% to 99%+.
Cosmetic-grade material meeting relevant purity standards is also available for personal care applications. Our supply chain ensures consistent quality and reliable delivery for industrial and laboratory requirements.
