Polydimethylsiloxane ( CAS 9016-00-6 ), commonly known as PDMS, is a silicone-based polymer used across industrial and consumer manufacturing as a defoamer, lubricant, and surface modifier.

Its thermal stability and low surface tension make it a preferred base material and functional additive in formulations where conventional organics fall short in performance.

In coatings and sealants, PDMS controls surface flow, improves leveling, and prevents cratering in both solvent-borne and waterborne systems for high-quality finishes.
