Carbendazim

CAS: 10605-21-7

Overview

Carbendazim (CAS 10605-21-7 ), also known as MBC and marketed under the trade name Mecarzole, is a systemic benzimidazole fungicide used across agricultural and industrial sectors.

It controls a broad spectrum of fungal pathogens by inhibiting fungal cell division, making it a go-to active ingredient for crop protection and material preservation programs.

In agriculture, it is formulated into wettable powders, suspension concentrates, and seed treatment products targeting diseases such as powdery mildew, Botrytis, and Fusarium in cereals and fruits.

Industrial preservation represents a significant non-agricultural market. It is incorporated into paints, coatings, and adhesives to prevent fungal degradation during storage and on applied surfaces.

Textile and leather processors use carbendazim-based formulations to protect finished goods and raw materials from mold and mildew during transit and warehousing operations.

In personal care manufacturing, it functions as a preservative booster in certain rinse-off and leave-on formulations where fungal contamination control is required for product stability.

The material is supplied as a white to off-white powder, with technical grade being the standard form for formulation manufacturers. It meets high industrial and agricultural quality standards.

Suspension concentrate and wettable powder pre-formulations are also commercially available. Buyers should confirm regulatory status in their target market, as approvals vary significantly by region.
